Sometimes a girl just needs to put on a little black dress and some heels and sparkle. Runway Anguilla provided the perfect opportunity to do so this weekend.
Runway Anguilla is an annual charity fashion show (charity for community). This year’s charitable proceeds were in aid of medical support for elderly and education support for youth.
The backdrop for this year’s event was The Yacht Club at the The Reef by Cuisinart. Before Nash and I descended the beautiful spiral staircase at the hotel, we stopped in the lobby to take some pictures. I like the décor at the resort.
Over the years, Runway Anguilla has built a great reputation for food, fun, fashion, friends and funds. This was my first time having dinner at the Yacht Club and I was looking forward to it. There was a buzz in the air at most tables as everyone eagerly awaited dinner and the fashion show.
There were beautiful centerpieces created by Carrol Shannon on each table. Nash and I grabbed a cozy booth and we were joined by Carla and Jansie.
Janine Edwards was the emcee for the show and she did a great job of welcoming all persons and keeping the evening upbeat. For this worthy cause, the platinum sponsor this year was The Reef by Cuisinart. FLOW was the supporting sponsor. General Manager of Cuisinart Golf Resort and Spa, Mr Stephane Zaharia and Commercial Manager for FLOW, Ms. Jade Reymond both gave brief remarks prior to dinner.
Dinner at The Reef by Cuisinart – Runway Anguilla
The dinner portion of the event took a different format from previous years. Dinner was a seated four course meal. The first course was a yummy green salad. The second course was crayfish. The third course was petit filet mignon and the fourth course was a chocolate dessert – simply decadent.
The Fashion Show – Let’s hit the runway
After a lovely dinner, it was time for the main event – the fashion show! This year’s event featured fewer designers and boutiques but the quality of the evening remained high. The theme for the show was “let’s transform it! Revamp your closet dress for less.”
Blu Boutique and Collette Jones Chin
The first segment featured fashion from Blu boutique plus fashions from designer Collette Jones- Chin. I loved the easy breezy and comfy nature of both sets of outfits.
What’s in Your Closet? Runway Anguilla 2017
The second segment was called “What’s in your closet” by Collette Jones-Chin and Charlina Laville. The models were asked to select clothing from their closet that they no longer wore or which no longer fit or were no longer fashionable. The outfits were revamped or new outfits were created and modeled.
Samantha Cate
Samantha Cate’s new intricate and beautiful jewellery line was also featured during the event.
Vladimir Bernal
The work of Vladimir Bernal was showcased for the Grand Finale – very exotic. Great job to the models.
Of course there was a team of persons working to ensure the evening was a success. The main photographer for the event was Sven Hage. The music director and choreographer was Claire Hage. Graphic Design was done by Valerie Zaharia. The models hair was styled by Nails R Hair and the makeup was done by Rena Ruan and Montre Edwards. Entertainment was provided by DJ Mike.
Other sponsors for the event were Ani Villas, Zemi Beach House, Properties in Paradise Anguilla, Anguilla Villa Company, Sunset Homes, Island Dream, Kobbe Design, Goat Milk Soaps, Straw Hat, Sandbar, Valley Bistro and Straw Hat. The My Anguilla Experience was also happy to add their support to the event.
Cheers to the Runway Anguilla team for another great event.
