The annual Tourism Awards and Gala was held on Friday December 5th 2014 at Coba Restaurant, Viceroy Anguilla Resort, Residences and Spa.
The first part of the event was the red carpet and cocktails with entertainment by jazz singer Jaine Rogers. Digicel was a sponsor for part of the evening. I thought the idea of using the boat was a nice one.
Dinner at the Tourism Awards and Gala
I will discuss the awards but allow me to gush about dinner first. It was delicious! The appetizer was a red and golden beet salad with local greens, goat cheese and pistachios. The entrée was short ribs, mahi mahi, crushed fingering potato, baby carrots and bok choy. The short ribs literally melted in my mouth. Dessert was chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and strawberries and again I ate everything on my plate. I was so busy anticipating and enjoying these courses that I forgot to take pictures! They looked as yummy as they tasted.
The Stars of the Night
Yes, I was busy eating but I was also paying attention to the award segment of the evening. See below a complete list of winners. My Anguilla Experience would like to extend congratulations to all the winners. Special congratulations to Mr. Fred Thompson of Carimar who is the three-peat winner of the Hotelier of the Year Award. To all the winners, please continue to demonstrate excellence in all that you do and encourage others to do the same. You can read about the 2013 Tourism Awards and Gala here.

Door Prizes
There were many high points to the evening. Another one for me was winning a door prize. I never win door prizes and raffles so I was very excited. I won dinner for two at Smokey’s at the Cove. I was then equally excited when my two friends also won prizes. One won Dinner for two at Dolce Vita Restaurant in Sandy Ground and the other won a relaxing 50 minute massage at CuisinArt Golf Resort and Spa.
Other fabulous door prizes included a two night stay at Spyglass Hill Villa to round trip tickets to Puerto Rico to dinners at many restaurants to smart phones. Thanks to all who generously donated door prizes. I look forward to winning again next year. Yes, a girl can dream.
Boss provided musical entertainment during dinner and the evening continued after the dinner and awards with the after party at Sunset Bar. It was a wonderful evening.
