Xavi’s First Time to the Beach in Anguilla – Shoal Bay East
It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon. It was the type of afternoon which shouts ‘Go to the beach.’ I was longing for a sunset beach stroll so Xavi, Nash and I headed to Shoal Bay East in Anguilla. As you know, one of the things I love most about our beaches in Anguilla is that they are seldom crowded. There were a few small pockets of families enjoying the beach especially the children as they frolicked in the water. I had a flashback of doing the same when I was a child. I fast forwarded to the present when I felt Xavi squirm in my arms and I looked to the future and smiled thinking about the fact that I am now a mommy and I will God willing get the opportunity to help my son create the types of childhood memories that are still so special to me.
It was Xavi’s first time to the beach and he was gazing around in wonder at the beauty and the new sights and sounds surrounding him. I immediately sensed that he would grow to appreciate the beach and nature as much as we do (as he has no choice but to come along with mommy and daddy).
It was the type of day (as most days in Anguilla are) that begged to be captured by camera or painting. Xavi and I started walking along the beach as Nash took his camera out and started taking some pictures. Nash said my stroll turned into a power walk which it did as my aim was also to get a bit of exercise! I paused often though to just appreciate the shapes of the clouds and the gorgeous blue sea.
Nash caught up with us and we took some pictures with Xavi. The rhythmic sounds of the waves lapping the shore, the gentle sea breeze and my walking had a very calming effect on Xavi as he was ready to sleep and refused to smile for the pictures despite our best efforts.
While walking, we ran into Renuka who started and operates the Blossom Centre – Arijah Children’s Foundation. Be sure to check out their website to see how you can help children with special needs in Anguilla. Renuka was also on the beach capturing the beautiful sunset and practicing her photography skills.
I haven’t been very good at capturing Xavi’s ‘first moments’ in his baby book but I wanted this first to be remembered.
There is no doubt, as long as we are able, we will spend loads of time on the beach as a family. This moment however, captured at this point in time will always be the first time Xavi went to the beach and for me that is pretty special.
Cheers to creating memories with your little ones!
